It has never been easier than it is now to make a living from home. You might choose to start a blog and be a master at affiliate marketing. Perhaps you have a few designs and fancy a drop shipping type of business. Whatever it is, if you’re intending on starting a business from home you’re going to need to follow a basic few steps. Aside from ensuring that your website never falls victim to hackers or downtime by having the right managed services in place, here is what you’re going to need to do.
Find out what people need, and fix it. Many people make the mistake of finding and creating a product first and putting the market second. The problem here is, you haven’t assessed if there is a need for what you are selling. Ideally, you should be looking for a market, then a product that fits the needs of that market. How? Well, take to the fastest thing at your disposal (the internet), and start reading. What are people talking about, what do they want? What are people searching for but not finding?
Write some great copy. The selling process is going to be much easier for you if you have the gift of the gab. Your social media posts, and anything you post on your website should be speaking directly to your market. Catchy headlines, descriptive but straightforward explanation of what your product does and why people need it. What benefit will your customers get? People love to know how something will help them, so spell it out – clearly and concisely.
Make it pretty. But not too pretty. There is an art to design. You want your colors to be ones that you market associated with luxury, but affordable luxury in their budget. It should be clean and crisp, but friendly too. You’re going to want to work closely with a graphic designer here to get the right balance. You have less than 4 seconds to grab attention unless people have purposely gone to your website.
Learn SEO. You need to know how to get your organic traffic as high as possible before you start making cash from pay-per-click advertising (PPC). With PPC, adverts will show up when people search for specific terms, and they are more eye-catching than a standard search result. The perk of putting in the effort here is that you can use all of the data to find out what your highest converting keywords are… and then sell some more.
Build an opt-in list and use it. Where ever you can, collect email addresses. These are the people who have shown an interest in what you do or your product, so talk to them directly. Work on developing relationships with your email list, give them discounts, shareable tips and information, establish yourself as an expert and remember that an email list is filled with hot leads – utilize them accordingly.
