Do It Yourself at Home During the Pandemic

Like so many people, I am still staying at home as much as possible because of the pandemic. But that does not mean I can’t enjoy some creature comforts. I have learned to “do it myself” with many things that I used leave the house for in the past.

Coffee

I love coffee. And now that I spend hours every day on video calls, I drink it every day. For Christmas, my husband gave me a frother. It has been a real game changer for me. I make lattes at home. It is not the same as going to Starbucks but it is pretty close. I have tried almond milk, soy milk and regular cow’s milk. Plus I add sugar free flavored syrups and sprinkle cinnamon on top. Sometimes little things like coffee make your day so much better and you can make it at home.

Blow-outs

Before the pandemic, I used to go to a salon for blow out. Whether I wanted fabulous hair for a special event like a wedding or interview or just as a pick me up, I loved a sleek blow out. Since I was a brand ambassador, I got my hair styled on a regular basis in return for posting on social media. Now, that I have a hot brush, I do my hair at home and it looks just as good.

Manicures and Pedicures

While I miss the experience of going to a nail salon for mani/pedis, I am learning to do them myself at home. I used to love the quiet time and the ritual of browsing and picking out a color from a ton of pretty polishes. It has been so long since I heard the lively chatter and enjoyed the people watching and the relaxing massage chairs. Honestly, this is something that I can do at home but I really do not want to do it at home. In addition, since make up is not really trending right now due to masks covering it up and not going out during the pandemic, I think nails are having a surge in popularity.

I am looking forward to this pandemic ending. We will get there. In the meantime, please share some things you have learned to do yourself during the pandemic in the comments.
