Medical professionals are asking many individuals with mild coronavirus symptoms to stay in home quarantine, take all the prescribed medications, and do routine check-ups. Taking care of your health at home frees up medical professionals to take care of the critical patients in hospitals.

Even if you don’t have mild symptoms of coronavirus, you can be forced to stay home in quarantine if any of your family members are suffering from this viral disease. Some families are in-home quarantine for significantly different reasons. They are stuck at home to avoid getting infected by the highly contagious coronavirus. Although many state governments have issued orders to open up, people are not yet ready to get out of the home.

The pandemic is getting worse day by day, and a vaccine is not yet available. People are scared to venture out of their homes. As a result, thousands of people are stuck at home.

No matter what the reason is, if you’re in quarantine, it is hard to retain your sanity month after month. It is tough. However, there are a few tips that can help you stay sane during the quarantine period. Here are a few of them.

1. Schedule a time for meditation every day

Amidst so many hurdles and problems, meditation works wonders for your mental health. It helps to improve your mood, manage your anxiety, and stress. Sit on a bed. Take a deep breath and then hold it for a few seconds, and then release it.

Continue this process for 30 minutes to feel rejuvenated and relaxed. All the angry and irritated nerve cells will be satiated.

2. Order and read new books

How much time did you get to read books for pleasure when life was normal? You hardly had any free time for yourself. However, now you have plenty of free time at home. Read books to nourish and stimulate your mind.

If required, order books online and read them in your free time. When you are engrossed in reading books, you will feel good and happy. Your mind will be thousands of miles away from the pandemic.

3. Watch a web series and good movies

Make a list of the movies and web series you have missed out on in the last couple of years. You can ask your friends to recommend good movies and web series too. After finishing your work every day, watch a good movie or a web series with your family instead of surfing the news channels.

If you want to be sane during the quarantine period, it’s important to keep yourself away from the news about death, unemployment, job loss, grief, etc. You’re already at home. You are following all the guidelines to be safe. There is nothing else that you can do now.

4. Try your skills in gastronomy

Gastronomy helps to manage anxiety and stress. It is a proven fact. When you are in quarantine, you have free time on your hands. It is the perfect time to test your skills in gastronomy.

Look at what you have in your pantry and prepare delicious meals for your family. It will help to release stress and think about the happy times you spent in your kitchen with family in your childhood.

5. Call your friends and grandparents

Your parents, grandparents, and friends love you unconditionally. They miss you a lot. If you are feeling crazy, bored, lonely, depressed, and scared, then it is a great time to call your parents and grandparents.

Make a video call to your parents and grandparents. Talk about the beautiful moments you have shared with them. Ask them how they are. When you see that their eyes are shining with love, you will feel cherished and loved. You will feel happy. Also, think about the ways to support your elderly parents during the pandemic. You will feel good.

There are many things that you can’t share with your parents as they are old. However, you can always share your anxiety and problems with your close friends.

They can help you to manage anxiety and stress during this uncertain time. If that doesn’t help, they can suggest a good therapist.

6. Play games with your family

When you have nothing to do, sit together with your family, and play puzzles or other indoor games. The hearty laughter with your family members will help to refresh your mind.

Consider this quarantine period as your golden opportunity to spend time with your family. Cherish this time with your family. Remember, when the pandemic is finally over and everything will be back to normal, you will remember this time.

Just think that God has given you the rare chance to be with your family instead of considering it as some form of punishment.

7. Seeking help online to retain sanity

If you are too scared about your life or job or family, then it’s normal to feel depressed. However, when these scary thoughts take a toll on your mental health and life, it’s necessary to seek help from a therapist.

Some of the deadly side-effects of the pandemic are depression, anxiety, and stress. Many people are feeling suicidal too. A therapist can help to manage anxiety and stress.

Now, even the government is encouraging people to consult a therapist online or over the phone. Remember, the government and your family care about you. Your life is precious.

So, if you’re feeling depressed or suicidal, seek help from a therapist over the phone. You will feel good, sane, and happy. Keep in mind that suicide is not an option just because you are an adult. Rather, there are lots of things that you have to take care of as an adult.

Conclusion

Focus only on the present moment. Don’t fret about what will happen in the future. If you are doing an assignment, give your 100% attention to that. Stop thinking about what will happen tomorrow or the next day. It will only cloud your mind with uncertainty and negativity.

Live on just the present moment because it will become history after one second. If you are cooking, then give your full attention to that. Take one day at a time to avoid getting stressed about the things that you can’t control.

This is the ultimate way to be sane during the quarantine period.
