The Long Road Towards Health

So we’ve called it a long road, because for those of you who have been leading an unhealthy lifestyle up until now, the journey is most definitely going to be long. You have to change your whole lifestyle, and to do that is to break a cycle that you have most likely been in for as long as you can remember. But as they say, there’s no time like the present to try and change your ways, and the longer you leave it, the longer the road is going to come. But if you don’t have a clue where to start other than the obvious eating healthy and doing some exercise that you will have read all over the internet and had drilled into your mind by the people willing you to change your ways, then it can be hard to know what to do. It’s not all about jumping right into the salads and going to the gym, there’s plenty more to it that we’re going to cover today!

Think Of Damaging Things You Might Be Doing

So, first of all, aside from the eating and lack of exercising, think of ways that you might be damaging your body. For a lot of you, there will be plenty of habits that will be seriously damaging your health, such as smoking or drinking. Both are just as bad as each other, and in the long run will cause such terrible effects to your body that you really want to try and avoid. Drinking in particular is something that’s considered to be a grey area and a bit of a taboo subject. If you feel like drinking has become something more than you just enjoy, there is a sober living program, and this would be the first step in your journey. But it doesn’t mean that your life is out of control or you’re a bad person, sometimes one thing leads to another, and you just need a bit of a kick in the right direction to get back on the right path.

Think Of The Things You Want To Achieve

Next on your list of things to do, should be to set goals that you can stick to to ensure that you’re getting the most out of your journey. But rather than setting long term goals, set short monthly goals that are much easier to stick to. Write them down, pin them on your wall, and use them to motivate you through your journey. Everyone copes different with their road to health, but giving yourself some guidance should really help!

The Start of Your Journey

Now to talk about the start of your journey, and for a lot of you, it will start with the things you do in your day to day life. Start the day by waking up and going for a 30 minute walk. All this requires is for you to go to sleep 30 minutes earlier to get the right amount of sleep, but watch how much this sets you up for the day! Then, eat a healthy breakfast of fruit and yogurt. Any fruits you like, and any flavored yogurt will do. Then as time goes on, you can slowly work your way towards eating three healthy meals a day.
