  • Get some help. One of the biggest security threats to your Wi-Fi is the man in the middle. This is where hackers can intercept the data through techniques like eavesdropping, or using an open system such as public Wi-Fi. Hackers will intercept and really messages between two different parties and that makes it look like everything is normal. In reality, however, the attacker is controlling the entire conversation. This is very common with bank accounts and information being sent to an attacker rather than your banking institution. And with public Wi-Fi, you are open to these vulnerabilities.
  • Planning. Another trick that hackers use on public Wi-Fi is by diverting your Internet traffic to a client website. This is known as DNS spoofing and it constitutes looking into a website that looks legitimate but really isn’t. It’s one of the most popular ways that hackers can get control of your banking information, your data, your customer information and even your email. If you are not aware of how this works, you need to start studying and speaking to your IT experts. Without this help, you are not going to be able to keep your business safe from attack, and that is why public Wi-Fi is a big no-no for companies around the world.
  • Switch off your passwords. If you have one password that rules your entire website, your data, and all of your logins, you’re going to be much easier to hack than you think. Using the same image email address for your online is common, but using the same password is a great way to make sure that your business is folding very quickly. Public Wi-Fi means that your password can be pinched very quickly, so you need to look at ways that you can ensure this doesn’t happen and that means not using public Wi-Fi.
  • Other users could be infected. If you’re working at a coffee shop and somebody else has malware or hackers in their websites and on their computers, your computer could be hacked by the cloud. Staying away from public Wi-Fi will prevent this.
