Healthy Ways To Take Time For You

You have probably heard the expression “self care is not selfish.” And it is so true. When you are taking care of others, it is easy to forget to take care of yourself. If you are thinking about taking some time to focus on your own health, here are some tips to get you started.

Take A Trip

Whether for a weekend, a week or longer, travel is great way to relax and step away from your schedule. I recently took a trip to Bermuda with two of my friends for our fiftieth birthdays. It was nice not to have to worry about schedules, carpools, cooking, cleaning and work pressures. We laughed a lot, went on long walks and soaked up the sun. We were only there for a few days but returned feeling restored.

Get a Massage

Massage is known for its therapeutic results and is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. When travel is not realistic, a sixty or ninety minute massage is the next best thing. With the right therapist, you will leave the studio feeling like a new person. Remember to book your service in advance and arrive about ten minutes early to adequately prepare. You will need to change into a robe and should allow enough time to turn your phone off and mentally transition from the real world to the calming spa experience.

Work on a Craft

I find crafting extremely rewarding. I have two planners. One is for journalling and the other is for planning and scheduling. I like to write down a few things that make me happy each week and also use some of the space for gratitude journalling. When I spend time on Sunday thinking about and recording appointments, meetings and reminders, it makes my week run a lot smoother. Journalling is a healthy way to manage stress and enhance your mental health and wellbeing. And the supplies such as stickers and cut outs make it fun and enjoyable as a hobby.

  1. I saw massage and I’m reminded how I haven’t had one in a very long time. After Covid 19 is over, I’m certainly going for one. Thanks for sharing
